5:15 min '… Recite (or read!) in the name of your Lord who created' 96:1
7:25 – 9:00 '… I do not know who to read … The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more [frightened the Prophet]. He then released me and again asked me to read …' Sahih al-Bukhari 3
… what the angels (of the Bible) said is, 'Do not be afraid!' … but this angel is positively terrifying, and he is terrorizing Muhammad. Muhammad tells him three times that he cannot do what is being commanded to do (i.e. Allah 40:2 forgot his notes, 'Knowing of that within the breasts' 5:7, who is 'closer to him than [his] jugular vein' 50:16)
… this foundational story of Islam has 'terror' right in it —it's terror at the CORE. That is angels do to Muhammad —it's terrorize him (as disbelievers in general) into obedience (cf. 24:51; destroy them 3:141, i.e. 'allies of Satan' 4:74-76 … who not 'obey' 4:80, 89; Allah hates them 60:4 —so do Muslim-robots 4:65).
And that's a paradigmatic incident for the entirely of Islam itself." (Robert Spencer)
